Research
interests:
My research involves investigations on the
population structure of pathogens affecting Eucalyptus trees
in Uruguay. Eucalyptus spp. (primarily E. globulus
and E. grandis) are the major trees used in Uruguay
for biomass production and are very important to the economy
of the country. The explosive increase in the area planted
to Eucalyptus over recent years has been associated with increases
in disease problems. My investigations will identify exotic
and native pathogens causing disease and help develop successful
control programs. For more information on this project see
the web page on Eucalyptus diseases
in Uruguay.
