My M.S. thesis investigates fungal biodiversity
in the historic huts of Antarctica. A small number of huts
were constructed by turn of the century explorers; Scott
and Shackleton, and left largely untouched for the last
90 years. Many Ascomycetes and Deuteromycetes have been
discovered in deterioration of the wood and existing saprophytically
on items inside the huts.
